Welcome to SOLANCISweb, which marks the 54th anniversary of the company I joined at the age of 17 and which is my life.

Like stone, we are natural, unique, we keep stories that we carve in stone, and we keep changing!

We are proud to launch this space for sharing knowledge and valuing Portuguese natural stone, a space that belongs to everyone and for everyone!

Helena and I are the fourth generation of the family in the stone industry and the second at SOLANCIS®!

Families and generations of employees and partners have passed through this team and it is to them that I dedicate this message today: Without you, your professionalism and friendship, we would not have had the courage and opportunity to make it happen, with all the challenges that time, technology, customers and stone bring us every sunrise.

To all of our customers – the stone installer, the architect, the construction company, the engineer, the domestic customer – to the customer of large construction projects and to the customer of smaller ones, we wish you a long and prosperous future. May SOLANCISweb be a useful tool for you and support your work. We will continue to work together, to develop solutions and to take Portuguese stone and the SOLANCIS team’s brand around the world.

I would like to say a special thank you to all the people who are part of my life! Thank you.

54 years carry a lot of stones and in this corner of the world, many stories and moments will continue to be written, but above all lived and shared by your side.

When I was at school, I would come to SOLANCIS in my free time – I would look around, try to understand what was being done, try to learn.

The office was a very small house and around it there was an orchard that dotted the factory’s white surroundings.

In ’85, I approached my aunt Lurdes, one of the partners at the time, and asked her if she would give me a job! I wanted to be part of the history of this company, to be an independent woman and I embraced this project with determination and the will to grow!

I believe that we should look to the future with ambition, without fear of work and with simplicity. My motto is that the commitment we put into everything we do will pay off – whether in friendship, family life or work! In the same way, the balance between all parties is fundamental.

We are more than stone – we are people who offer solutions to people, whose product will be enjoyed by people. We are a team – a team that makes us proud of the journey that has been made and to which we thank the commitment and dedication of every day – some of them a lifetime!

To my family, thank you for filling my heart and soul! I’m happy.

In this context, we welcomed a group of young people from Coisas da Terra, from Rio Maior, which is also linked to the Cooperativa Terra Chã, where SOLANCIS® sponsors Cabrinhas Serranas, for the forest protection benefits they bring to the Serras de Aire and Candeeiros, where we are located.

These young people, who explored nature during the week, came to learn about the Stone Industry, in its most technological process of designing and transforming Stone, where they encountered challenges left by the Cabrinhas along the way.

Sustainable Stone By Portugal is the green agenda that represents the Natural Stone Sector in Portugal and of which Solancis is the consortium leader and co-coordinates with the Portugal Mineral Resources Cluster.

From the team of 150 Solancis employees, around 120 guests attended the event, including the 52 Entities of the Consortium, and other partners from public and private entities.

The INOVSTONE 4.0 Mobilizing Project generated 24 outputs, including:

and also 1 WEB3.0 and BIM platform for the competitiveness of the Ornamental Stones sector.

19 innovative prototypes for work in the extraction and transformation of Ornamental Stones;

2 software programs, one for an intelligent system for classification and self-diagnosis of stone processing tools and one for sensorization embedded in a prototype on an application scale;

1 study on new 3D visualization tools for better industrial management of quarries;

1 study on new distinctive and value-creating factors of Portuguese stone;

INOVSTONE 4.0 co-financed by LISBOA 2020, COMPETE 2020, Portugal 2020 and the European Union through the ERDF, involved a consortium of 24 entities led by CEI – Companhia de Equipamentos Indústriais Lda, consisting of Natural Stone Companies, demonstrator companies, Technology Companies and Entities of the Scientific and Technological System.

SOLANCIS® is celebrating its 50th anniversary. We had the honor of welcoming our entire team, customers, suppliers, partners and friends to our home for a special celebration.

It is with pride that we trace this path and dedicate our efforts to associations that promote the growth of the country, companies and the economy, aligned with good practices in the management of natural, material and human resources.

SOLANCIS begins the new year of 2021 with renewed commitment and dedication to being increasingly present on projects around the world – looking after the safety of its team, customers and partners – and naturally, with strength and resilience to overcome the current pandemic and economic crisis that the world is going through.

We will continue to follow the path of innovation, a key factor in any challenge!

We are recognised by ANI – National Innovation Agency, which, like us, promotes innovation – and introduces you to differentiating projects in the stone industry such as INSTONE – developed in partnership with CeNTI – which provides intelligent solutions in limestone!

The agenda “Sustainable Stone by Portugal – Valuing Natural Stone for a digital, sustainable and qualified future” was presented by Eng. Agostinho Silva on behalf of Solancis, the cluster, and the other partners of the agenda, to the Government, Mayor of Matosinhos, IAPMEI and ANI, who will evaluate and select the applications that will go through to the next phase.
