Belém Cultural Centre — Lisbon, Portugal

Project awarded with the International Stone Architecture Award

Lioz Abancado has a great tradition in Portugal, therefore it was not a coincidental choice of the architects Manuel Salgado e Vittorio Gregotti for the Centro Cultural de Belém, in Lisbon, Portugal. The limestone with natural cleft finish was used on the facades, coping and masonry of the building built in 1992. In the surrounding areas, besides Lioz Abancado, the stones Vidraço Branco and Calcário Branco are used in coping, kerbs, portuguese pavement, exterior stairs, steps and slabs. In 1993, the Centro Cultural de Belém received the International Stone Architecture Award.
